About the Artist

Though currently an emerging artist, Anne Marie has been creating art consistently since she was 12. She was born and raised in Highland, Illinois, where she currently practices, and earned her BFA from Kean University in 2025. Using art as a vessel, she connects to the wondrous side of all of us, speaking to our inner children.

Within her process, Anne Marie thrives in mixed media. She creates illustrations of watercolor, gouache, ink, colored pencil, and marker, layering mediums that aren’t often found together. As accents, she utilizes found and discarded objects like iridescent cellophane, tin foil, and rhinestones. You could she is obsessed with anything sparkly or shiny. Some other skills of hers include: stained glass making, bookbinding, and embroidery, which she will sometimes incorporate into her illustrations.

As she continues to tell visual stories, her personal mythology grows. Pulling from various sources within the cultural ethos we live in, Anne Marie’s world consists of a bricolage of religion, spirituality, nature, and fantasy.  The mythos she has constructed of angels, guardian spirits, knights, and heroes is one which awakens the childlike sense of wonder we all have within us. For her, creating art has always been a form of play.
